Course Description
This course is designed for treatment teams in clinical settings serving patients with brain injuries and other acquired neurocognitive challenges. In addition to the recordings, the course includes 4 one-hour interactive virtual team workshops with our faculty.
Short-Term Executive Plus (STEP) is a Class I evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation treatment developed to improve executive functioning in individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The program consists of two discrete and complementary behavioral interventions: one targeting problem-solving (SWAPS™) and the other emotion regulation (EmReg™).
Problem solving is a cognitive ability that is instrumental for goal achievement, optimal functioning, and adaptation to environmental demands. Inefficient problem solving can be a significant obstacle to optimal daily living. SWAPS™ is an intervention that is easy to learn, practical to implement, and applicable to situations that range from simple daily to complex life-long problems. SWAPS™ is a tool that clients can rely on to deal with a variety of challenges.
Emotion regulation is one of the most important skills for building emotional wellness, reaching important life goals, and overcoming obstacles. Teaching your clients emotion regulation skills will enable them to deal with emotional challenges more effectively and across a variety of situations. EmReg Training™ is an intervention that provides clients with a tool that can increase their sense of agency and self-control, and can empower them to pursue their goals in their personal, social, and professional life.
We designed the course with the objective to prepare your team to put the skills to use immediately.
